(Flying) Locust Pose (Salabhasana Variation)
Also known as Bird Pose in Acro Yoga!
Benefits:
This is a "baby backbend." It opens the throat, neck and shoulders, while strengthening the back. Energetically, it's quite invigorating! Traditionally, this pose is performed on the belly, on the ground. However, adding the acro element makes it more challenging and fun. This variation adds elements of balance and trust.
How to get into this pose:
Lie on your belly with your arms along your sides. Turn palms up, and allow the forehead to rest peacefully on the floor. On an inhale, turn the toes inward, to where the big toes are invited to touch. Raise the arms off the floor, parallel to the body. Pull the shoulders on to the back. On the next inhale, turn the gaze upward, and ride the breath so that the chest comes off the floor.
