What should I bring with me to the trainings?

What to bring -

1) Casa de Luz is a macrobiotic center, so they ask that participants bring only vegan snacks and drinks into the auditorium. We’ll have an hour for lunch each day, from 1:00-2:00pm. Please bring whatever snacks, water and beverages you may need for the morning and afternoon sessions, as the restaurant doesn’t serve food to take out unless you bring a container. Thom’s Market is a short walk away, and they have snacks and drinks. Whole Foods Market is also nearby.

2) The weather in Austin is always interesting, if not exactly perfect, so be sure to bring an extra layer(s) and a pair of socks in case you get cold.

3)Bring something to write with and a notebook. There is a teacher’s manual , but we’ll be jotting down ideas, reflections, and creating some class plans, etc.

Is there anything else I should know about where the trainings are located?

All information regarding the trainings and location is included in the welcome letter...but here is some for those of you interested in finding out more now!

Location -

all trainings will be held in the auditorium at Casa de Luz in central Austin. Casa de Luz houses an excellent organic macrobiotic restaurant serving seasonal dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are a few more restaurants and food trucks within 5 minutes walking distance. http://www.casadeluz.org/austin/

Please arrive on time -

Please be at the auditorium, ready to begin at 8:30. Our days are full, and in order for us to be able to issue certificates of completion, participants need to be present for all hours of the weekends they attend.

What else to know -

Parking is street parking. There are meters - Austin charges for meter parking on Saturdays after noon, but Sundays are free. Even if you park in the lot across the street, you must buy a sticker at one of the “meters” and display it on the dash of your car.

Ladybird Lake walking trail across the street from Casa de Luz, so if you like to walk before or after class, bring your walking shoes! Barton Springs pool is also a stone’s throw away, so bring your suit if you want to take a dip! We may be joining you!
